MANILA, Philippines — The number of reported deaths due to the combined effects of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami) and Typhoon Leon (international name: Kong-rey) climbed to 151, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Tuesday.

In its 8 a.m. situation report, the NDRRMC said only 20 of the reported deaths were confirmed. It also reported that 134 were injured and 21 were still missing.

The tally of individuals affected by the recent weather disturbance also rose to 8,847,888 people or 2,249,345 families. Of this figure, 711,977 were displaced; 194,272 were in evacuation centers, while 517,705 took shelter elsewhere, the agency added.

They were evacuated from flood-hit areas in Region 1 (Ilocos), Region 2 (Cagayan Valley), Region 3 (Central Luzon), Mimaropa, Region 5 (Bicol), Region 6 (Western Visayas), Region 8 (Eastern Visayas), Region 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula), Region 12 (Soccsksargen), Caraga, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and the National Capital Region.

So far, the government has rolled out P49,256,602 worth of assistance to affected families.

Earlier, the NDRRMC reported that the government distributed over P700 million worth of assistance to affected communities nationwide.
