Coote has been surrounded by multiple controversies since last month and was suspended on November 11 after a video of him abusing former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp went viral. Trouble kept mounting for Coote and finally the PGMOL said Coote's actions made his position as a referee "untenable".

Who is David Coote?Currently 42 years of age, David Coote belonged to the Select Group of Referees in the English football before his eventual suspension. Born in Nottingham, Coote started refereeing as a 16-year-old. By 2018, he had advanced to the Premier League where he made his debut in West Bromwich Albion's 1-0 victory over Newcastle.
Coote also officiated in the 2023 EFL Cup final between Manchester United and Newcastle United where the Red Devils clinched victory.
David Coote ControversiesCoote was suspended in November this year after a video surfaced where he was seen to be abusing the then Liverpool manager Klopp.
The video that emerged showed Coote as saying: “Aside from having a right pop at me when I reffed them against Burnley in lockdown, then he accused me of lying and then just had a right f*****g pop at me. I’ve got no interest at speaking to someone who’s f*****g arrogant. So I do my best not to speak to him … My God, German c**t, f**k me.”
The video is said to be from a July 2020 match between Liverpool and Burnley which ended as a 1-1 draw. Klopp alleged that Coote who was officiating in the drawn game did not give fouls for dangerous tackle on Liverpool's players.
Once the video came out, Coote was provisionally suspended and an investigation was opened.
A few days later, another video came out showing Coote sniffing a white powder and that led to further trouble for him.
To add to his worries, allegations of match fixing also emerged where Coote was alleged to have shown a fixed yellow card in an EFL Championship match.
